Ilex Oak (Quercus Ilex)

£9.50

Ilex Oak originates from the mid and western Mediterranean. Good for exposed coastal situations, as windbreak and shelterbelt planting, either as a standalone tree 60’ plus, or can adapt well to be grown as a formally trimmed hedge. This is by far and away the hardiest of the wind breaks I carry in the nursery, but is slower growing than the Oleara. Excellent for creating microclimates to protect the plant you want to grow. Use where our own native trees get sculpted by the wind. Multiple rows to be considered on very exposed sites. For formal hedging- guide spacing; 10 plants in a single row will cover approximately 4m.
